Ammonia is produced by two units using a process developed by the company Kellogg. They were commissioned in 1978 and 1979 respectively. Initial design capacity of every unit is equal to 1360 MT/day. In recent years the systematic revamping and retrofitting of equipment, regular maintenance and overhauls have brought about an increase in the plant performance indicators raising the production rate almost by 25% as compared to the initial design rate, while reducing the specific energy consumption from 10.3 down to 8.8 Gcal for every ton of ammonia produced. So now each ammonia production unit can produce about 1700 MT/day.
